Ever since its humble beginning on 1996, the Environmental Cooperation & Linkages Inc. has been pursuing a wide scope of services, most of which are related to environmental research and conservation projects. Despite limited access to funding support, it continues to fulfill its mandates. But as of January 2007, after an Internal Evaluation of its decade-old existence, the institution came out with a programmatic approach in realizing its mission. These are as follows:

A. Health and Women's Program

The Health and Women's Program focuses on projects concerning HIV/AIDS Prevention and Mitigation and the Promotion Indigenous Women's Rights. Although this field is relatively new to the institution, the ECOLINK has more than 3 years of experience in developing and managing projects related to HIV/AIDS and Women's Rights. The ECOLINK Women's Network is composed of 17 grassroots women's organizations who have actively supported the past projects.

B. Sustainable Rural Development Program

This program is a consolidation of ECOLINK's decade-old experiences in rural work. Projects undertaken under this program includes: Biodiversity Research, Coastal Resource Management, Rainforest/ Mangrove/ Wetlands Conservation, Recovery and Stewardship, and Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD). The SIAD Project is a development framework which highlights flexible approaches in the conduct of research, project management and sustainability in a rural community.

C. Human Rights, Democratization and Peace-building Program

Under the Human Rights, Democratization and Peace-building Program are projects related to: Media and Human Rights Advocacy, Social Preparation for IDP's, Peace-building and Conflict- Resolution, and Network-building.

D. Local Governance and Transparency Program

Since 2005, the Local Governance and Transparency Program is ECOLINK's primacy area of concern. This is a timely response to the worsening inefficiency and culture of corruption within the Philippine Government. Within this program are activities aimed at enhancing the effectivity of the Local Government Units (LGU's) in realizing their functions as provided for in the Local Government Code or R.A. 7160. Trainings in Barangay Development Planning and Budgeting are some of the many projects falling within this program area.

An ongoing project, the Anti-Corruption and Transparency, involves monitoring the use, maintenance and procurement of government

vehicles in Misamis Occidental.

In order to provide the citizens the mechanism of airing out grievances and debating issues concerning the local government, a "Corruption Watch" Radio Program is being launched. Although the program runs a mere once-a-week, it has been declared as the Leading Radio Program in the province.

E. Mindanao Youth Fund

The Mindanao Youth Fund is an endowment program initaited by the ECOLINK due for launching this July 2007. The fund seeks to support initiatives of youth institutions in Mindanao that will contribute to the attainment of peace and sustainable development.
